SBA is a non-profit organization officiating and promoting amateur and professional boxing in and around the wider areas of East Auckland subject to strict guidelines in affiliation to BoxingNZ and Internal Affairs Dept. The onsite gym presents local youth and participants an opportunity to gain competition tuition comparable with Oceanic and International standards. The Shamrock Assn premises on Pilkington Rd, Panmure privides a training facility for the general public developing confidence and life skills training in a highly disciplined sport that presents the youth in the community with aims, self confidence and self discipline in their personal lives which sets boundaries as they mature, it instills sportsmanship and a code of ethics and centers on building the complete person in today’s society. Coaching techniques are based on proven specifics applied by licensed Coaches. BoxFit training is a fitness and conditioning vehicle which does not involve competition, it provides a high level of anaerobic fitness applicable to all sports in the General training and Boxfit sessions at the Shamrock amenity

The Coach

A committed boxing coach spends many hours with his protegees coaxing and guiding them to excellence in the sport they aspire to and to which he the coach loves so well. He spends hours planning his approach to his pupils and the specifics to bring excellence and finish. But make a note of it, the coach is just that, a coach! He is not a trainer as in horse training, dog handling or seal disciplines. He only gets from his pupils what they are prepared to give of themselves in return.

He coaxes them out of their comfort zone with training regimes to become the very best they can be. He listens to them, and befriends them, he knows how they feel and can read their mood swings and he understands them. The pupil can trust the coach as a friend, they know the coach will tell them exactly where it is regarding progress, and help them in their concerns. (the pupils' personal welfare and growth as a human being is paramount)!

The coach will never lie for any reason or any pretext, the pupil relies on the coach to tell the truth! He loves them for what they are, the gladiators of the ring, the heroes of every boxing gym in the world in a sport which serves man's primal competitive instinct in the highest way *the noble art of self defense*.

There is no magical coach, and no magical way of coaching! There is only the right way in the true fundamentals. Boxers need to find a coach they can trust that knows the true fundamentals;

The boxer is everything, nothing else matters, not structures, regimes, enterprises or egos, the coach is not seen as he elevates the boxer to be the best.
